_________________________________________________
The Ivy Inter-American Foundation was founded by
Anabella Jordan and the Ivy Peru Committee in 1987 to assist, educate, and empower children
and impoverished people throughout the Americas.
The Foundation's top priorities are to help youths at risk break
out of the cycle of poverty and neglect and to promote good will
and solidarity among the countries within the hemisphere. OUR
HISTORY
Anabella Jordan is the wife of David C. Jordan, who
served as US Ambassador to Peru 1984-1986. During that
particularly difficult period in Peruvian history, Anabella recognized an urgent need to help suffering children in the
region. In 1985 she established, with a group of
Peruvians, the Asociacion
Emergencia Ayacucho (Emergency Association of Ayacucho) to
alleviate the suffering of
orphans who resulted from the wide-spread atrocities committed
by the Shining Path Peruvian terrorists. IIAF
was formed in 1987 to help finance this successful humanitarian organization.
IIAF
TODAY
IIAF has since expanded, but our objective remains
the same: to increase awareness of the overwhelming disadvantages
that so many children in the Americas face. By doing so we have cultivated
a growing network of generous supporters and charities. Together
we are empowering communities throughout the Americas to nurture,
educate, and help their own children build better and more prosperous
lives.
The lives and future of everyone across the
hemisphere and across the globe are increasingly intertwined.
We at IIAF recognize that while there is poverty next door their
can be no true prosperity at home. Solidarity throughout the hemisphere
is the mortar that binds the building blocks of prosperity together.
By supporting our efforts you can help make this solidarity stronger
every day.

OUR
FOCUS With our reach, contacts, and regional awareness
we are responding to urgent requests for help from small humanitarian
groups so often overlooked by larger foundations. Our success
stories include providing critical assistance to a nutritional
center in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, to abandoned youth rescued
by CIMA in Lima, Peru, and to a home for disabled children in
Santa Cruz, Bolivia. In addition to our efforts on behalf of orphans
and poor children, we also focus on improving the
lives of young men and women through guidance, education, and
training programs.
Recently we have started a
scholarship program to provide job-related training high school age.
Ivy is actively soliciting donors for this effort.
EVENTS AND FUNDING
IIAF raises funds and awareness by sponsoring events such as our Holding
Little Hands Luncheon held biannually and the annual fall Silent
Auction, both held in Washington D.C. IIAF
also facilitates donations between individuals and groups.
The
Ivy Inter-American Foundation is an entirely volunteer organization.
Funds go to assist needy children and their communities in
the Americas. For information on making donations or becoming
an IIAF volunteer please go to the
Donations & Contacts page, or contact
IIAF president,
